The Law Admission Test is designed for students seeking admission to undergraduate LLB programmes at recognised educational institutions in Pakistan. Candidates who have completed Intermediate or an equivalent qualification representing 12 years of education are eligible to apply. Students who have appeared in their final HSSC or equivalent examinations but are awaiting results can also register.
Candidates who have previously qualified for the LAT may reappear to improve their score for consideration in merit-based admissions. Students should check the HEC LAT eligibility criteria before applying and confirm the separate admission requirements of their preferred law university.
Before opening a new ETC application, candidates should prepare the information needed to complete their profile accurately.
Their own valid CNIC, or NADRA Juvenile Card/B-Form number if under 18.
Name, father's details and date of birth matching their official academic and identification records.
A recent passport-size photograph with a blue or white background.
Matriculation and Intermediate academic details, as applicable.
An active email address and mobile number.
Their preferred examination city from the available options.
A supported payment method for the ETC-generated 1Link/1Bill invoice.
HEC requires candidates to enter their names as they appear on their Matric certificates. Incorrect identification details can create problems during registration and identity verification at the examination centre.
HEC LAT applications are submitted through the Education Testing Council portal during an announced registration period. The procedure below can be followed when a LAT application window is available.
Open the official ETC website. Visit https://etc.hec.gov.pk/https://etc.hec.gov.pk and access the candidate login or registration section.
Create your ETC profile. New users should register with their own CNIC or B-Form/Juvenile Card number, as applicable. Existing users can sign in to their profiles.
Complete your personal information. Enter your name, father's details, identification number, date of birth and other information carefully. Upload the required photograph.
Select the Law Admission Test. When registration is open, choose the available LAT application from the ETC dashboard.
Provide application details and select a test city. Review your information and select an available examination location. HEC does not allow candidates to change their selected test city after registration.
Generate the payment invoice. Open the relevant application in the My Application section and use the Online Payment option to generate a 1Link/1Bill consumer number.
Pay the prescribed registration fee. Use a participating bank, ATM, internet banking service or supported mobile payment application to pay against the generated consumer number.
Verify the payment. Return to your ETC account and select the payment verification option under Online Payment.
Confirm successful submission. Check that the application status has changed to Submitted . An application left incomplete or awaiting payment verification is not considered successfully submitted.
Always complete these steps before the official closing date. Creating a profile or filling out an application without reaching the required submission status does not complete registration.
The LAT registration fee reported for recent 2026 sessions was Rs. 1,800 . Candidates should treat the amount displayed on their official ETC-generated invoice as the final payable fee for the relevant examination session. HEC uses the 1Link/1Bill payment system. Candidates generate a consumer number through their ETC application and pay the amount through a supported banking or digital payment channel.
After payment, candidates must return to their ETC account to verify the transaction. According to ETC's published instructions, successful verification changes the application status to Submitted. For further information about payment options and fee rules, see the LAT fee structure .
A Pending Payment status indicates that the payment process has not been completed successfully or confirmed by the system. HEC advises candidates experiencing payment difficulties to try another supported banking application or e-wallet while registration remains open. Candidates should also use the official complaint system if they experience a technical problem.
HEC's online support service is available at onlinehelp.hec.gov.pk . The ETC FAQ advises submitting payment-related complaints sufficiently before the deadline rather than waiting until the final day.
Candidates who successfully register for the examination should check their ETC accounts and registered email addresses for examination instructions. According to HEC's 2026 calendar, roll number slips for the November LAT are scheduled for release on Friday, 6 November 2026 . The examination is scheduled for Sunday, 15 November 2026.
Candidates should download their roll number slips, check the assigned examination centre and follow the reporting time and identification instructions printed on their documents. The LAT date sheet provides additional examination schedule information.
Candidates should bring original identification documents and a printed roll number slip. They must follow the latest HEC ETC examination instructions to avoid difficulties at the test centre.

The registration period for the November 2026 LAT ended on 20 October 2026. Candidates who did not submit their applications during the announced period should wait for HEC to publish the next registration notice. The official 2026 ETC calendar lists no additional LAT examination after 15 November 2026. No future registration date should be assumed until the authority makes an announcement. Students can use this period to study the LAT paper pattern , review LAT past papers and work through LAT test preparation resources .
Registration problems can arise when candidates overlook important application requirements.
Creating an ETC profile but failing to complete the test application.
Using a parent’s or another person's CNIC instead of their own identification number.
Entering a name or date of birth that differs from official records.
Selecting an examination city without checking its suitability.
Paying the fee without verifying the transaction through the ETC dashboard.
Assuming that a Saved or Pending Payment status means successful registration.
Waiting until the registration deadline to report a technical problem.
Carefully reviewing the application and confirming its final status can help candidates avoid preventable problems.
The Law Admission Test carries 100 marks, and candidates need at least 50 marks to qualify. It includes English, General Knowledge, Urdu, Islamic Studies, Pakistan Studies, Basic Mathematics, an essay and a personal statement. Students should review the complete LAT paper pattern and marks distribution to understand the examination format.
A qualifying LAT result is an admission requirement, but it does not guarantee admission to a law degree programme. Universities apply their own eligibility and selection requirements. Candidates can also consult the LAT result information following the official result announcement.
