Who Can Apply for BSCS

The usual requirement is an intermediate (HSSC) qualification with at least 50% marks and mathematics. Your exact group decides whether you apply directly or with conditions.

Some universities set higher minimums than 50%. IBA, for example, asks BSCS applicants for at least 60% in HSSC Pre-Engineering or an accepted equivalent. For the general rules, see the BSCS eligibility criteria page.

Entry Tests and Merit

Most universities select on a merit formula that combines academic marks with a test score. A few, such as the Virtual University, publish different rules.

• Own tests: many universities run their own tests; some accept SAT scores instead. ITU, for example, exempts applicants with a high SAT or approved USAT score. IBA runs one aptitude test but says SAT exemption is not guaranteed and only top scorers are considered.

• Engineering universities: some use ECAT for computing programs. Check the notice.

• Open-admission and distance programs: Virtual University accepts applicants with at least 45% in intermediate; confirm its entry-test status in the current notice.

How to Apply for BSCS, Step by Step

1. Pick three to five universities that fit your marks, city and budget. Compare the program, fee and test.

2. Read the full notice. Note the last date, minimum marks, test date and required documents.

3. Register on the university portal and fill the form with your name exactly as on your CNIC or B-Form.

4. Upload your documents (see the checklist below).

5. Pay the application or test fee by the stated method and keep the receipt.

6. Appear in the test or wait for the merit list, whichever the university uses.

7. Complete enrollment by paying the admission and first-semester fees before the deadline. Compare costs on the BSCS fee structure page.

Documents to Keep Ready

• Matriculation and intermediate mark sheets and certificates (or A-Level results)

• IBCC equivalence certificate, if you studied outside a Pakistani board

• CNIC or B-Form copy

• Recent passport-size photographs

• Test result or SAT score report, if the university accepts one

• Domicile certificate, if the university uses quotas
