If you want an LLB admission in Lahore, the HEC Law Admission Test (LAT) comes first. Registration for the current LAT cycle closes on Tuesday, 20 October 2026, and the test is tentatively set for Sunday, 15 November 2026. Most large Lahore universities listed their fall 2026 deadlines between July and early October, so many of those windows have already closed. Passing the LAT now keeps you eligible for the next intake. Check the HEC LAT notice for any change of date.
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| Entry test | HEC LAT is mandatory. The pass mark is 50 out of 100. |
| Qualification | Intermediate (FA/FSc/ICS/I.Com) or A-Level, with 12 years of education |
| Minimum marks | Usually 45%. Some universities set their own bar (see below). |
| Programme length | 4 years or 5 years, depending on the university |

| Next LAT | Registration closes 20 Oct 2026. Test is tentatively on 15 Nov 2026. |
The Education Testing Council (ETC) of the Higher Education Commission runs the LAT. It is required for LLB admission in HEC and Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) recognised institutions, following Supreme Court orders.

Both exist, and the transition is still under way. The Pakistan Bar Council and HEC moved towards a four-year LLB aligned with HEC’s undergraduate policy. Some Lahore universities, including UMT and Superior University, now publish four-year LLB programme pages. LUMS has said it will offer a four-year BA-LLB from Fall 2026 alongside its five-year programme. HEC’s current LAT notice also refers to four-year LLB admission.
In July 2026, HEC dismissed a viral letter that claimed students already enrolled in five-year programmes would be shifted to four years. Read the HEC clarification before sharing any such letter. Always confirm the duration in the university’s own admission notice. The Supreme Court has also barred admission to the old three-year LLB, so new applicants should not look for that route.
Rules differ by university, so read the notice for your target institution. The common pattern is Intermediate or A-Level with at least 45%, a pass in the LAT at 50 marks, and then the university’s own test or interview. Examples from published notices:
See the national LLB eligibility criteria page for the general rules. If you hold A-Level or a foreign qualification, expect to need IBCC equivalence. PU requires it at the time of admission.
Deadlines marked “listed” come from the Eduvision listing and may have been extended. Confirm on the university’s own website before relying on them.

For a longer directory, see LLB universities in Lahore. Smaller colleges with their own pages include Lahore Law College, Quaid-e-Azam Law College and Superior College of Law.
Only graduates of recognised law programmes can practise in Pakistan, so check that your university’s LLB is recognised by the Pakistan Bar Council. Published recognition lists have included PU, LUMS, UCP, UMT, Riphah, Minhaj, Kinnaird, the University of Lahore and others in Lahore, but lists change. Verify the current status with the PBC before paying any fee. This matters most for private law colleges.
If you have not yet registered for the LAT, do it before 20 October. Collect your roll number slip in early November and prepare for the 15 November test. Meanwhile, review the LLB fee structure so you can budget, and practise with LLB past papers. Once results arrive, apply to the universities that open the next intake.
