B.Ed admission 2026 is still open at a handful of universities, but the biggest window has closed. AIOU ended its Autumn 2026 B.Ed admissions on 6 October after extending the deadline. If you are applying this week, the nearest last dates are Sarhad University of Science & IT in Peshawar (14 October), Abasyn University in Peshawar (16 October), the University of Karachi (21 October) and Sindh’s government elementary colleges of education (31 October). Below you will find which B.Ed you can apply for, what each route requires, and how to apply before the deadline.
| Institution | City | Last date to apply |
|---|---|---|
| Sarhad University of Science & Information Technology | Peshawar | 14 October 2026 |
| Abasyn University | Peshawar | 16 October 2026 |
| University of Karachi | Karachi | 21 October 2026 |
| Government elementary colleges of education (Sindh) | Shikarpur, Larkana, Sukkur, Mirpur Khas, Hyderabad, Qasimabad, Malir (Karachi), Thatta, Mithi, Badin, Sanghar | 31 October 2026 |
These dates come from published admission listings and can change. Universities often extend deadlines. AIOU moved its Autumn 2026 date from 10 August to 21 September and then to 6 October. Confirm the date on the university’s own admission notice or portal before you pay any fee.
Several of the Sindh colleges have separate colleges for men and women, so check which one you are applying to. For more institutions near you, see the full list of B.Ed universities and colleges.
AIOU offers B.Ed in 1.5-year, 2.5-year and 4-year formats. Its Autumn 2026 admissions for Matric, FA, Associate Degree, B.Ed, PGD and certificate programs closed on 6 October with a late fee, after the original 10 August deadline was extended. AIOU takes applications through its online admission portal at fmbp.aiou.edu.pk.
If you missed this round, you have two options. You can apply to one of the universities in the table above that is still open. Or you can wait for AIOU’s next semester intake and watch the same portal for the announcement.
| B.Ed Program | Who Can Apply | Universities Offering It (examples) |
|---|---|---|
| B.Ed (4 years) | Intermediate (FA, FSc, I.Com, ICS) or A-level, usually with 45% to 50% marks | AIOU, NUML (Lahore and Karachi campuses), Virtual University |
| B.Ed (2.5 years) | Candidates with 14 years of education, such as a two-year BA/BSc, usually with 45% marks | AIOU, NUML (Karachi and Faisalabad campuses) |
| B.Ed (1.5 years) | Graduates with 16 years of education (BS, MA, MSc) in a subject other than education | AIOU, NUML, University of Karachi, University of the Punjab, Islamia University Bahawalpur, University of Sargodha |
| Entry to the 5th semester of the 4-year B.Ed | Associate Degree in Education (ADE) holders, or two-year BA/BSc holders after a bridging semester of 15 to 18 credit hours | Depends on the university, as it decides which route it admits. NUML offers the ADE itself. |
Most universities advertise fall-semester B.Ed admissions between July and October. Many also run a smaller spring round in January or February. AIOU admits students twice a year, in its spring and autumn semesters. Dates differ every year and between institutions, so the admission notice is the only reliable source. Add the notice’s last date to your calendar and aim to apply a week early.
Under HEC’s Teacher Education Roadmap, the right B.Ed depends on the qualification you already hold.
| Program | Who can apply | Typical structure |
|---|---|---|
| B.Ed (4 years) | Intermediate (FA, FSc, I.Com, ICS) or A-level students | 8 semesters; credit hours vary by university (for example 130 at NUML Lahore, 138 at SAUS) |
| B.Ed (2.5 years) | Candidates with 14 years of education, such as a two-year BA/BSc | For example 5 semesters and 90 credit hours at NUML, with a bachelor’s degree and 45% marks |
| B.Ed (1.5 years) | Graduates with 16 years of education (BS, MA, MSc) in a subject other than education | 45 to 54 credit hours of coursework |
Two more HEC rules matter. Associate Degree in Education (ADE) holders can join the fifth semester of the four-year B.Ed. Candidates with a two-year BA/BSc can be admitted to the fifth semester after a bridging semester of 15 to 18 credit hours in deficiency courses. MA Education, M.Ed and BS Education are treated as equivalent to the B.Ed for employment and further study, so check whether you need another degree at all.
For the four-year program, most universities ask for 45% to 50% in intermediate or an equivalent such as A-level. For the 1.5-year program, the University of Karachi asks for 16 years of education in a non-education discipline with at least 45% (second division). The University of the Punjab asks for second division in listed subjects. Marks requirements, accepted subjects and quotas differ by institution, so read the prospectus. The detailed B.Ed eligibility criteria page covers university-wise requirements.
Keep scanned copies of your CNIC or B-Form, your father’s or guardian’s CNIC, matric and intermediate certificates, and transcripts for your latest qualification. Graduate-entry routes also need bachelor’s or master’s transcripts. Some universities ask for degree verification or a domicile certificate where provincial quotas apply. Passport-size photographs are standard.
Selection methods differ. The University of the Punjab’s 1.5-year B.Ed merit formula, for example, is based entirely on academic record. Other universities hold their own tests. The admission notice states which applies, so don’t assume a test is or isn’t needed.
Fees vary widely between public and private institutions and between regular and self-supported programs. Check the university’s current fee schedule rather than relying on averages. The B.Ed fee structure page helps you compare options.
